PromptGod is a Chrome extension that helps users improve and rewrite their prompts on AI websites directly in the browser. This privacy policy explains what data PromptGod handles, how it is used, and what your rights are as a user.
PromptGod is developed by Aaryan Kapoor, an individual developer based in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.
If you have any questions about this policy, you can reach me at aaryankapoor008@gmail.com.
PromptGod stores the following data locally on your device using chrome.storage.local:
This data is stored exclusively on your device and is used only to operate the extension. It is never transmitted to the developer or any server the developer controls. Note that chrome.storage.local is device-local only and is not synced across devices by Chrome.
When you click "Enhance" (or choose "Enhance with PromptGod" from the right-click menu), PromptGod temporarily reads the following data from the active AI chat page:
This text is read solely to send it to your selected AI provider for enhancement. It is processed in memory only, is never stored by the extension, and is never transmitted to the developer or any server the developer controls. Once the enhancement is complete, the original text is no longer retained by the extension.
The developer does not collect any of the following:
There are no user accounts, no login system, and no tracking of any kind.
Your API key and settings are used solely to send requests to the AI provider you have selected, on your behalf. Your prompt text is read from the page and sent to your chosen AI provider for enhancement. These values are read from local storage and the page DOM when you click "Enhance" so that the extension can make the appropriate API call.
Your data is not used for any other purpose. It is never shared with the developer, sold, or disclosed to any other party.
When you click "Enhance," your prompt text is sent directly from the extension to the AI provider you have selected. To improve reliability, PromptGod may automatically fall back from your selected provider to another supported provider listed below (for example, from Google to OpenRouter) if a request fails — but only ever to a provider you have saved an API key for. The developer is not a middleman in this process and does not receive, log, or store any of the data that is transmitted.
If you select Google as your provider, your prompt is sent to the Google Generative Language API at: https://generativelanguage.googleapis.com/
PromptGod may also use your Google API key to request the available Google model list from the same API so the model picker can be populated.
Your use of the Google API is governed by Google's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. Data handling for the Gemini API is described in the Gemini API Additional Terms of Service.
If you select Groq as your provider, your prompt is sent to the Groq API at: https://api.groq.com/openai/v1/chat/completions
Groq does not use API inputs or outputs to train its models. Your use of the Groq API is governed by Groq's Privacy Policy: https://groq.com/privacy-policy/
If you select OpenRouter as your provider, your prompt is sent to the OpenRouter API at: https://openrouter.ai/api/v1/chat/completions
PromptGod may also request OpenRouter's model catalog and inspect your OpenRouter key status so it can show free-model availability and daily-limit status. Prompt text is not sent to the model-catalog endpoint.
OpenRouter does not store prompts or responses by default unless you explicitly opt into logging. Your use of the OpenRouter API is governed by OpenRouter's Privacy Policy: https://openrouter.ai/privacy
PromptGod requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function:
storage — To save your API key(s), selected provider, selected model, and preferences locally on your device using chrome.storage.local.activeTab — To access the current AI chat tab you are working in when you trigger an enhancement.scripting — To inject the "Enhance" button and apply the enhanced text on supported AI chat pages.contextMenus — To add the "Enhance with PromptGod" option to the right-click menu for selected text.alarms — To schedule periodic background refreshes of the available free model list. No personal data is involved. No other permissions are requested. PromptGod does not request access to all websites, browsing history, or any data beyond what is listed above.
All data handled by PromptGod is stored locally on your device via chrome.storage.local. The developer does not operate any server, database, or backend of any kind. Because the developer never receives your data, there is no remote storage to secure.
All API calls are made over HTTPS to ensure data is encrypted in transit.
You are responsible for protecting your own API keys. Do not share your keys with others, and revoke any key you believe may have been compromised.
Data stored by PromptGod persists in chrome.storage.local until you uninstall the extension or manually clear the stored data. You can remove your API key at any time from the extension popup. The developer retains nothing because the developer receives nothing.
If you are located in the European Union, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, port, and object to the processing of your personal data. Since the developer does not collect any personal data, most of these rights are best exercised directly with the third-party API providers whose services you use through PromptGod.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of the sale of your personal information. The developer does not collect or sell any personal data.
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to access and correct your personal information. Since the developer collects none, please contact the relevant third-party API provider directly to exercise these rights.
PromptGod is not directed at children under 13. The developer does not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has somehow provided data through the extension, please contact the developer so that appropriate steps can be taken.
PromptGod's use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
The developer may update this privacy policy from time to time. Users are encouraged to review this policy periodically for any changes. Continued use of PromptGod after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
